Announcement of new RTC Principal

April 2, 2019 Announcement of new RTC Principal

The Board of the Reformed Theological College (RTC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Phillip Scheepers (BA, BTh, MTh, DTh) as the new Principal of the RTC from the beginning of 2020. He follows Dr Murray Capill who will be stepping down after 12 years as Principal.

Phillip joined the RTC in 2010 as Lecturer in Missions and Church History, having previously worked for Veritas College in London, establishing training for local church leaders in the Arab world. Since 2015 he has served as Vice Principal of the RTC, developing a reputation as a capable leader and able administrator. The Board believes Dr Scheepers is ideally suited to providing the leadership the RTC needs at this time. He has been intimately involved in the changes the RTC has made over the last four years and is a strong advocate of RTC’s vision and mission. By appointing someone from within the RTC Faculty we ensure consistency in the College’s direction, theology and values.

At the same time, the Board has decided to appoint outgoing Principal, Dr Murray Capill, to the new position of Dean of Ministry Development. In this position he will support the Principal by overseeing and extending RTC’s ministry training. He will continue as lecturer in Pastoral Ministry.

We thank God for His provision at this time of change and pray that he will richly bless the College under Phillip’s leadership.
