RTC has some great options for study at our Melbourne campus in Semester 2, 2020. If you are about to begin study or continuing, why not take up one or more of these?
The Early New Testament Church
This unit surveys of the book of Acts and the major New Testament Epistles, examining their history, context, themes, and theology. Taught by Martin Williams, this is a great entry-level unit to overview the beginnings and expansion of the early church.
Principles of Leadership and Management
Dr Murray Capill heads this team-taught unit which explores the dynamics of Christian leadership that empower others as leaders and managers. With reflection on biblical principles and patterns of leadership, you’ll become equipped with the principles and processes for leading and managing Christian institutions.
This engaging unit will help you better understand the beliefs and practices of the world’s foremost non-Christian religious (Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism). Through a careful study of Christian principles of engagement, you’ll also become equipped to share the gospel in a multi-faith world.
The Continental Reformation
This unit surveys the major phases and developments in Christian history during the time of the Reformation throughout Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. With a focus on the key players and consequences during this exciting period of world history, you’ll be able to see how its events continue to shape Christianity in the present day and to apply the perspectives from this period to current issues in ministry.
Theology: The Doctrine of God and the Work of Christ
Dr Martin Williams will lead this exploration of the being and attributes of God, the Holy Trinity, and the life and work of Christ. This key unit is designed to help students begin to interpret the bible theologically and trace the relationship between vital doctrines and the Christian life.
Pastoral Ministry in Reformed Churches (Intensive)
This team-taught intensive is ideal for anyone preparing for ordained ministry in a Reformed Church and an excellent in-service training option for elders, potential elders, ministry workers and pastors in the RTC’s supporting denominations.
Drawing upon the history and convictions of Reformed Churches in Australia and NZ and through reflection on the realities of pastoral ministry, this unit will strengthen your ability to articulate your own call to pastoral ministry and the theological convictions that form the basis for it.
We will offer this intensive from the 24th – 28th August with preliminary online work, and further assessment afterwards.
Additional study opPortunities
In addition to these subjects, we are also offering units for continuing students in Hebrew (with Rev. Alastair McEwen) and Preaching (Dr. Murray Capill).
All units can be taken toward a diploma, undergraduate degree, graduate degree or gradate diploma. All awards are accredited by the Australian College of Theology. Classes begin on 21st July.
If you are not wanting a degree or diploma, you could consider being an “audit” student (with no assessment or academic credit) for just $300/unit.
